This a question seldom answered. I have many friends who have lost their girl friends without a specific reason. The girls often escape relationships making an excuse that they want to spend some time alone. Let’s now analyze how they decide to go solo i.e. the factors which make them happier alone rather than being in a secured long term relationships.
As far as I know girls they are very reluctant to take big decisions i.e. they are slow at taking decisions unlike boys. But once they have decided on to something they really love sticking to it for a longer period of time. This is what they do once they have opted out of their relationship.

Less Responsibilities: One of my friend often remarks “The burden of responsibility is the biggest one. “ The girls are also humans and they also have this basic instinct for escaping the responsibility. They prefer to stand on heir feet and then walk out of their homes to make a life they have always dreamed of.
Regret: This is in fact the most common reason for a girl to go single. Most of the time girls start thinking that they have lost considerable amount of time over their relationships and now, to them the relationship look like a useless affair to involve in. Such a feeling of regret might appear due to poor academic performance, unemployment, unsatisfactory results in professional front, inability to start something new etc.
These things then force the girl to break up and live her life alone.
In satisfaction in Bed: In most of the developed countries this reason accounts for a major number of break ups. The growing hunger for sex among the people has taken a negative turn for them. The girls which often feel unsatisfied with their partners performance in bed often decide to leave him.
